We are looking for a senior and self-driven Java specialist for a qualified assignment in a larger IT organization, focusing on the migration and modernization of Java-based applications to a container platform. You will be a key person in the technical transition from IBM WebSphere Application Server to OpenLiberty with target architecture on Red Hat OpenShift, where the migration is automated with OpenRewrite and customized recipes.

• Further develop and refine a developed proof of concept for the migration track
• Drive and support the migration of codebase from Java 8, including analysis of backward compatibility and breaking changes
• Create, customize, and maintain OpenRewrite recipes used by the executing team
• Be a technical mentor and support to development teams in the migration and modernization work
• Work with system development, code analysis, and code migration
• Containerize applications and adapt them for the platform
• Contribute to DevOps work such as CI/CD, testing, and application/architecture analysis
• Participate in both development and maintenance based on business needs

• Extensive experience as a system developer with Java on distributed, service-oriented platforms and a very deep technical understanding in the area
• Documented experience in code migration between Java versions
• Deep knowledge of backward compatibility and breaking changes in Java
• At least 2 years of experience in system development with container technology (Kubernetes)
• Fluent in Swedish, both spoken and written

• Experience with IBM WebSphere Application Server (WAS)
• Experience with OpenLiberty
• Experience with OpenRewrite and migration between Java frameworks
• Deep experience with Java codebases in versions 6 and 8, including differences and improvements in Java 8
• Experience with Red Hat OpenShift and tools like ArgoCD and Helm
• Experience with container technologies and tools such as Podman and Docker, including building and optimizing container images
• Experience with build and dependency management with Maven
• Experience with Gradle
• Experience with DevOps and CI/CD
• Experience with Git and branching strategies
• Experience with unit, integration, and regression testing for Java code
• Experience with performance testing in complex IT environments
• Database experience including JDBC, JPA/Hibernate, and connection pooling
• Experience with Java 8 features such as lambdas, Streams API, Optional, and Date/Time API
• Architectural experience in microservices, RESTful API design/implementation, and design patterns in Java
• At least 2 years of system development in the last 5 years in IT organization(s) with at least 100 employees
